l. We have a summer home in Cashiers and I like to do something different and special with the grandkids when they visit us.  A friend told me about Robin's Active Adventures and Delicious Dining and I thought that sounded like it would be a unique family experience.  It turned out to be the highlight of our week together. 

 Even though I've done a lot of hiking in the area, I wanted to explore Panthertown Valley with an experienced guide, because it's very easy to get lost up there.  Robin was happy to tailor the hike to meet our interests.  

Her homemade, gourmet lunch and snacks were truly delicious.  (She even made mine vegan!)

And best of all, her positive energy and enthusiasm were truly contagious.

We all look forward to another adventure with Robin when we get together again next summer!

3. My husband and I used to be avid hikers in our NC mountains, but the years have slipped by and we did not have an inflated view of our abilities. While vacationing in Sapphire Valley, NC,  Robin was featured as a hiking guide and we jumped at the opportunity to hire her. We were so glad we did! Her expertise and knowledge of the area made our hiking experience one that we will always fondly remember. She knew exactly where to take us and the views were extraordinary. 4. I hiked with Robin Hiker this Fall in North Carolina.  She made sure I was prepared and able to do the hike that was right for me.  She took me to places I would never have been able to find on my own.  We hiked along beautiful trails that provided stunning vistas and in to waterfalls that are a “secret”.  The pace was comfortable and allowed time for plenty of photographs.  We were provided homemade trail snacks (Her bear granola bars are the best!), trail mix and the lunch was a gourmet chicken wrap with fresh greens, herbs, nuts and cranberries.  I would hike again with Robin next year if I am in the area.

5. Don and I always wanted to Explore the Panthertown Wilderness but were hesitant because we had heard that the trails were not well marked.   We engaged Robin to guide us and from the first minute I talked to her on the phone I knew we would have a great experience.  Robin was very upbeat and passionate about hiking in the mountains.

We are in our late 60/early 70, so on the day of the hike she was prepared with alternate routes to match our hiking skills. However we were fit enough to actually walk behind a lovely waterfall and see everything in that area.  We also hiked up to a beautiful Panthertown overlook where we enjoyed our lunch.  It was a memorable day and we would love to go with Robin again .

Robin is an experienced and knowledgeable guide, and I would not hesitate to recommend her.  I have been visiting the mountains in North Carolina since childhood, and Robin has shown me some beautiful new hikes that are unknown to the general public.  Robin would greatly enhance your visit to the western Carolina mountains.

Several years ago, my husband, Tommy,  and I met Robin on top of Whiteside Mountain, where she identified peaks we were questioning.  In that chance meeting, we discovered to our delight that Robin is a hiking guide.  Since then, she has led us on many hikes over a variety of terrains, leading to the gorgeous overlooks, vistas and waterfalls that abound in the western North Carolina mountains.  Robin knows the area and is always full of enthusiasm and always accomodating.  You won't find a more competent, exuberant guide who will customize any hike to your liking.  And if you're lucky enough to be offered her packed lunch, don't pass it up !

9. If you want to do something special in the mountains, Robin Lurie (known as Robinhiker) is the one to pick to lead you on a hike. Whether it is to a waterfall or a mountain peak, she is the lady who will find that special secluded place you will never forget. Her lunches are yummy and the places she picks to have lunch can’t be beat! She takes digital photos that she emails to you which you will get by the  end of the day. We plan on going with “Active Adventures and Delicious Dining” again!
